Porcelain figurine of a swan clearly marked on the underside in blue with Samson's version of Meissen's crossed swords mark. Edme Samson was a 19th Century Paris porcelain manufacturer who made excellent quality reproductions and replacements of 18th Century porcelain. It is often difficult to tell the difference between an original 18th Century porcelain and a 19th Century Samson reproduction. Samson porcelain has considerable value of its own today for its quality and the fact that it has also become an antique. Samson sometimes used the marks of the porcelains he imitated, other times his own mark (different adaptations of the letter "S") or no mark at all.
