Extraordinary Satsuma pottery vase with decoration in high relief and elephant head shaped handles. Each side is decorated with a center panel, one depicting the ocean and the other land with a three-dimensional figure in each. It is marked on the underside with red characters. We have seen a vase in the same style but different colors signed by a highly regarded artist named Chin Ju Kan, who worked under the art name "Gyokuzan" (c. 1868-69). In very good used condition with minor imperfections and restoration as shown.

Measurements: 10.25" tall (26 cm). Weight: 2.7 lbs. (1.21 Kgs).

Item ID: 1172
