Beautiful cut crystal and sterling silver jug for decanting wine or claret at the table. The silver mount is decorated with in Louis XVI style with floral garlands and draped ribbons and the lid is topped with a bud finial. A small opening remains at the spout when closed to enable pouring. Silver mount is stamped with octagonal shape hallmark used in France since 1838 to indicate a silver fineness of 950/1000. In good used condition with imperfections as shown. Measurements: 8" tall.

It has an bulbous body with threaded surface. The jug has an applied curvilinear handle with pinched details. It is thick and heavy and has illegible incised marks on the inside handle.
