REDUCED Vintage 1940s / 1950s Val Mode Pink Taffeta Ruffled-Hem Slip / Dress, B: 34" - 35"

This flirty pink Val Mode slip dates to the very late 40s or into the early 50s, with a full skirt made to show off the upstart "New Look" in fashion. Its acetate taffeta fabric looks and feels like rayon satin. With its wide straps, metal side zipper, and full skirt with deep ruffle, this can be worn as a summer party dress, topped with a lace shrug, shawl/wrap, or sheer overblouse.

Features wide, shaped inset at waist, metal slide adjusters, multi-darted bust. There's a "tuck" in the skirt above the ruffle, all the way around, about 1" deep. This may be one of those "adjustable-length" features, where you let it down to lengthen the slip (appears original to the slip and not an alteration).

Labeled size 34, but may fit a slightly larger figure (see below for garment dimensions). Fabric doesn't stretch; you do want a fairly close fit on this, but also need ease of movement.

Bust: 35 1/2" (measured around inside of bustline to account for ease)

Length: 31" down side seam at underarm

* Taken flat on front & doubled, unless noted otherwise. Note: I do NOT stretch garments out when I measure them, unless otherwise stated. I generally don't use stretched dimensions, because if the item is too small for you, you'll be unhappy! I suggest you measure a similarly styled item you already own in the same manner to check for fit.

Fabric: Acetate taffeta; hand wash, drip dry

Condition: Excellent. There was a tiny hole, about 1/8" long, near the center front seam, which has been mended (see photo). That's the only thing keeping this from a near-mint rating. I can't say it's not noticeable when looking at it straight on, but it tends to hide in the skirt folds, and is difficult to see in some lighting. Only an issue at all if you wear this as a dress. The label is not wash worn, slides show no paint wear, and the fabric itself is solid. Has been hand washed.
