In order for you to have the best dressed holiday table, I will be happy to post these as quickly as possible.
The silver plate is in very good condition with no copper showing through, so often not the case with candlesticks of this age. The weighted pair is substantial in size, with the square bases measuring 5 inches and the candlesticks stand 12 1/14” high. Together, the pair weight 6 pounds.
From my research, I feel these may have been made by Joseph Deakin, Sheffield, England. Several of the marks are identical to marks that are thought to possibly be Deakin’s (1855-1891). They are most likely English by Deakin, Circa 1885.
Condition; silver plate is in very good condition, small amount of wear. Bases have a few small dings, with one small bend on a corner. The round base of the columns (just above the square base) show some possible repair. The candlesticks themselves are sturdy. Felt has most likely been replaced. I have included pictures showing the candlesticks from all 4 sides. Overall, they present beautifully.
