An antique late Victorian Era sterling silver photograph or picture frame. The stunning English solid silver frame has an inset round opening accentuated with a floral garland. The entire frame has a raised beaded edge and a center design of acanthus leaves. The frame is fully hallmarked for sterling silver, the assay town of Birmingham, and the date letter "g" for the year 1906. The maker's mark identifies it has been made by William Hutton & Sons Ltd. The firm was established in 1800 in the town of Birmingham by William Hutton, the firm was later transferred to Sheffield in 1832. With the death of the founder, the business was continued under the style of William Hutton by his son William Carr Hutton. The firm became William Hutton & Sons in 1864 and William Hutton & Sons Ltd from 1893 to 1930. In 1930 the firm was transferred to James Dixon & Sons Ltd.
Certainly, a very special frame in very fine condition. The blue velvet back and easel are also in very good condition.
