Gleaming French Vermeil & Silver set of 12 coffee spoons with presentation box. The set was made by Veuve Léontine Compère (veuve or widow), 79, rue Quincampois à Paris, date date of insculpation, 1888. The widow of Ernest Compère, both are well known among Parisian silversmiths.

Rocaille design with flowing acanthus leaves and small bellflowers. The tip of each spoon ends with a delicate shell accented with raised beads.

The spoons measure 5 1/8” long with total weight of 220grams.

The gilt is in very good condition. The spoons have surface scratches in accordance with their age and use. Four spoons have bends mid-way (shown in the pictures), two more noticeable. These are not as noticeable when in use or handling. The presentation box is a perfect place to store the spoons, the latches on the front work well. The box is worn on the edges and there is some soiling inside. The spoons would look quite stunning presented on a silver tray scattered with coffee beans.

Marks include Minerve 1st. Titre denoting .950 sterling, the mark was used after 1838 and the rabbit or lapin mark for Compère.
