The thistle has been a well-known Scottish symbol for over 500 years. In the language of flowers or floriography, the thistle is an ancient Celtic symbol of nobility and character. Please note; the frame is being sold alone. I have enhanced the first picture with a picture that I took with my camera of Chatsworth, a lovely estate in England. The estate was used for part of the filming of "Pride and Prejudice", one of Jane Austin"s novels.
Victorian 19th.C acquired in England.
The frame’s inside measurements allow for a 12” X 12” artwork , picture or, needlework (with a ˝ recess on all 4 sides). The outside measurements of the frame are 18”X 18”. There are age related nicks to the frame. One chip fortunately is on an outside edge. There are two areas where a small amount of outside trim is missing. Best of all, when checking the thistles, only one has a small chip. More pictures are available; please email me.
