Layaway NOW! True Antique & Collectible Lover's Heaven where ALL Major Credit Cards are always accepted!
This is an very interesting & unusual post card. There is an old red car throwing dust up on the road with fresh road kill lying all around!
Ducks, cats, dogs, fox and something else that I can not quite figure out what the artist was drawing. A total of 6 dead animals that have been run over by the faster pace when the car first came out. A real history lesson! The car even has the young passenger turning around to see because he sees it too! The artist even included a tag number of 7734-0.
All of my postcards are in a plastic sleeve for postcards to protect them. The pictures are the shots with the sleeve on them. The corners of some of the sleeves are looking like the edge of the postcards are bent. The postcard edges are not bent.
Measures-3 3/8 x 5 3/8 inches.
The stamps are significant as well, I found the following online while researching the 2 cent stamp-
For the stamp collector-
(*Many collectors found the stamps of this Series to be the most beautiful ever made by the U.S., but not all were pleased and there were many complaints concerning the designs of the various frames. In fact, on the two cent stamp the frame was redesigned completely from the "flag" design to the "shield" design; compare the two 2¢ stamps above.*)
&
(*Although this series is commonly known as the "Series of 1902", and in fact all of the stamps in this series are inscribed "Series 1902", only two of the stamps were issued in 1902, with the balance being issued a year later in 1903. Like the Pan-American stamps, the Series of 1902 gave the artists and engravers free reign, resulting in some of the most intricate, if not ornate, designs ever placed on U.S. postage stamps. There were many complaints concerning the designs of the various frames, and in fact one stamp, the two cent, was redesigned completely.*)
Please see my photos for pictures for some of the stamps issued during that time.
Antique Postcard collecting, also known as deltiology, is one of the most popular collectible hobbies in America, Canada and Internationally today. There is such history in vintage postcards. They are virtual museums of the past. 100 years ago. How far we have come! Simply holding an old postcard can evoke memories of the past and can provide glimpses into our social history and our culture of the time periods long past, but still alive in the postcard. These wonderful pieces also known also as a “penny post card” and a “picture post card,” have been collectibles since their 1890s inception. They are of interest to those interested in antiques and photography as well; the deltiologist, in particular, prizes RPPCs.
Among antique postcards and other scarce paper ephemera you will find in my shop will include some roadside America, vintage real photo (RPPC) post cards, Texas towns and topical postcards and even some postcards about postcards! There are some with wonderful artwork from Tuck & Sons, as well as fancy silk postcards and embossed cards that would be beautiful in a frame in your home or given as a gift.
