This is an outstanding example of a Victorian flue cover. These were made to hide the stove pipe during the summer months when the stove was put outside because of the heat. Showing a lovely woman's portrait on paper with gold around the rim. It sits in a decorative metal frame with a chain attached for hanging. It looks to us that someone was good enough to replace the backing on it to preserve the portrait inside. This measures 8" in diameter and is most charming.
