This ash tray is 4 inches across and is in extremely nice condition with almost no signs of use. There are a few very light surface marks but you must tilt it in bright light to see them. $40 USD Offers ConsideredTHREE Pennsylvania Railroad "Purple Laurel" China Custard or Bouillon Cups

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Dining Car China:Pennsylvania
For your consideration is a group of THREE interesting china cups from the Pennsylvania Railroad. With narrow bottoms, gracefully curved sides and flared top edges, they would have been used for serving bouillon (clear soup) or custard/dessert. The base ware feels lighter than standard, heavy commercial restaurantware. Each cup is bottom stamped with the PRR keystone logo and "DESIGN PATENTED" PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD COMPANY . "Purple Laurel" was in use from the 1920s through the 1950s, and was ...

International Silver Co. Railroad Silverplated Juice Glass Holder Insert

$35 USDInternational Silver Co. Railroad Silverplated Juice Glass Holder Insert

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Dining Car Silver
This three-armed cup was designed to hold a juice glass on ice, adding a luxury touch to a railway dining car passenger's meal. We found an identical example shown in the "Pullman" section of "Silver Banquet II" (Maffett) which is the "Bible" of railroad silver dining service pieces. Maffett's example shows the cup holder resting on the rim of a 6-3/8 inch, 22-ounce silver bowl. On the train, ice would have been placed into the bowl. The cup section would then be pushed down into the ice, so the ...
Maine Central Railroad "Bangor" China Platter

$260 USDMaine Central Railroad "Bangor" China Platter

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Dining Car China:Maine Central
This exceptional platter from the Maine Central Railroad is in extremely nice condition with almost no signs of use. Dating from the earliest 1900s, it is very attractive in the Bangor pattern incorporating a box logo with black and dark red pinstripes around the rim. Most Bangor platters are found in terribly worn condition with significant glaze loss and surface damage. This is not surprising because the railway ordered only two or three china patterns, using the individual pieces for many ...

This key is from the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad, which was located in Nebraska. (It is not a Boston & Maine.) It is a terrific example of their hard to find steel switch key. On one side of the bow it is stamped B&MRRR.NEB and on the other G666 above the letter S. This great RR old line was made famous by singers Leadbelly and Johnny Cash. This key is in ...

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Hardware:Locks,Keys
Here is a great key from the midwest: it is stamped C&WI on one side of its bow and on the other is stamped 2944 along with ADLAKE, its maker. Early Southern Pacific Railroad Tapered Barrel Brass Switch Key

$95 USDEarly Southern Pacific Railroad Tapered Barrel Brass Switch Key

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Hardware:Locks,Keys
The patina on this wonderful old key is so dark that it looks nearly black, but tiny spots of golden brass are peeking through here and there. With its tapered barrel (but no incised rings) we are going to date it at around 1900 or possibly before. This key has a short appearance because of the narrow looking bow; its actual length is 1-15/16 inches. This key is stamped S P. (the period is square) on one side of the bow. There are no other markings. The lettering is quite small but is a serif ...

This key would have been made for the New York Central between 1935 and 1968, the period in which the railroad was running as the New York Central System. This old New York Central RR key dates to between 1914 (when the New York Central Lines emerged from a merger with the NY Central & Hudson River Railroad) and 1935 when it changed its name to New York Central Systems after restructuring. Strongly stamped NYCL on one side of its bow and ADLAKE on the other, this key is a beautiful display. It is a very attractive mellow golden in color. This is a fairly common cut for the New York Central, but "Lines" marked keys are difficult to find even in our ...

Penn Central Railroad Hollow Barrel Brass Switch Key

$26 USDPenn Central Railroad Hollow Barrel Brass Switch Key

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Hardware:Locks,Keys
This key was made between 1968 and 1976 for the "Pennsylvania & New York Central Transportation Company" also known as the Penn Central. This is one of the good, solid heavy ADLAKE keys, stamped PCRR on one side of the bow and ADLAKE on the opposite. It is in excellent condition showing little (if any?) use. PANHANDLE Railroad Hollow Barrel Brass Switch Key

$64 USDPANHANDLE Railroad Hollow Barrel Brass Switch Key

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Hardware:Locks,Keys
One would think this "Panhandle" key was from the Oklahoma/Texas region but we believe it is actually from the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad, which in its later days was referred to as the Panhandle. Keys from this line are not readily found. This key is stamped PANHANDLE all around one side of its bow in block letters. On the reverse side is stamped L0691 above a partly obliterated letter S. The "PANHANDLE" stamping is quite light with the center in particular worn from ...
RACO Railroad Signal Screw Type Lock w/ "Key"

$24 USDRACO Railroad Signal Screw Type Lock w/ "Key"

Vintage Collectibles:Railroadiana:Hardware:Locks,Keys
This is an exceptionally clean railway signal lock, strongly stamped RACO and in great working condition with a "Rube Goldberg" key. It is a gray color and at first glance appears to be steel, but a magnet WILL NOT stick. Looking very closely, it appears to be brass, with a tough but thin plating of some kind. This fooled me because the details on the lock are so crisp; usually plating smooths sharp edges. It may also be possible that this lock is an alloy (which would explain the "rust" color ...

Incorporating the very desirable large "shield" marking outlining important events in the B&O's history, it is correctly bottom-stamped Scammell's Lamberton China / Design ...
