Vintage 1940's pre-eagle modernist Mexican sterling silver pin by BETO. I can't quite figure out what it is. A goblet? An open-mouth fish? I will let you decide. I do know it IS a fabulous brooch! It is fully signed and hallmarked, Beto, 925 Taxco, Sterling Hecho en Mexico. It sports an amethyst cabochon, too. It is missing the locking mechanism on the clasp (an easy fix by a jeweler) but will hold securely without it. Otherwise excellent condition. It measures 2.75 x 1 1/8 inches.

I am always touched by the obvious love that goes into making these pieces. From the Victorian era, this (tested) 10k gold pin is edged with real 3mm pearls. The pearls symbolize the tears of the mourner. Under the glass are plaited locks of two people, one blonde, the other light brown. Many times these are engraved on the back, but this one unfortunately is not. Other than a few light scratches on the glass, it is in excellent condition and measures 1 x 5/8 inches.
