A rare and large antique Dresden Germany porcelain double-handle urn / vase. Magnificent detailing on this piece, hand painted throughout with impasto raised gold enamel on a blue background. The entire body and lid feature elaborate raised gold ornamentation of scrolling foliate and various floral motifs. To the front and back are vignettes of a classical Greek mythology scenes, likely from the Odyssey. This piece is quite large and impressive, measuring 21" in total height x 9 5/8" in diameter at the opening. Marked at the base with the blue lamb for Ambrosius Lamm and Dresden, dating to circa 1891. In very good condition for its age with some light wear to the gilding, there is a flat flake chip located on the base, visible in the photos.
