In the late 1940s and early 1950s, designers of costume jewelry began making holiday pins, the most popular of which were Christmas tree pins. Names like Mylu, Pakula, Hollycraft, Beatrix, JJ, Dodds -- everyone made them. They never lost their popularity, and today there are new designers making fabulous new pins; but the pins of the designers of the "Golden Age" are a class unto themselves.I've been fascinated by Christmas tree pins and have collected them for decades. Every tree is, after all, just a triangle. But oh! what a great designer can do with that triangle!
I am now sharing a part of my collection with you -- the very best part, the part fashioned by the vintage designers. Most of the pins are vintage; those that are not are made by the top of the modern designers.
