About Us
Why I make jewelry...

I have made many more pieces of jewelry in my head and in my sketchbooks than have ever come out of my hands. Always having a sketchbook or notebook with me lets me create anywhere, even if a piece never gets made. Play is also important -- I try to set aside one day a week to play with the metal and stones to see what they want to do, and I am always surprised how much easier a piece comes together when I'm open to chance. I am generally inspired by movement, flow, and texture - which often leads me to connected circles, loops and spirals. I have been working with Argentium sterling - in addition to regular sterling silver - over the last year or so. I don't always use Argentium, but it fuses so well, allowing me to do the spirals and links that I so enjoy making.

I like to combine my handmade components to achieve a look that could be both ancient and modern, and I often abandon symmetry for a balanced randomness. I also enjoy using "unusual" gemstones like ocean jasper and labradorite to bring color into my jewelry.

Most of my jewelry is one of a kind, since I often sit down at the bench with no idea what I'm going to make. I do make a few of my favorites in multiples, even if it is sometimes difficult for me to not get a new idea in the middle of a piece, and that might change the original work that I set out to duplicate. Oh, well.. why not celebrate serendipity?

I don't usually do "sets", but if you would like earrings to go with a necklace, please let me know by email. And if you would like something that has already gone to live with someone else...well, I can probably make something almost like it for you! (But remember, there is that serendipity thing...)

I always try to create something unique, and hopefully, beautiful, then let it out into the world, and wait for its owner to find it.

I enjoy making jewelry like I enjoy breathing.
