Whether we are seeking the most breathtaking Victorian lavalier, the bluest Sri Lankan sapphire, or an eclectic and handcrafted silver bangle, we approach the search like a quest, like a challenge. Regarded by many customers as “The Library of Jewelry”, we attempt to represent not only a variety of stylistic time periods and unusual gemstones, but a variety of price ranges as well.
Market Square Jewelers was founded in 1984 with its first location nestled on Inn Street in Newburyport, Ma. As this store became too small in 1989, we set up shop on the corner of Liberty and State Street in Market Square. Charmed by the boardwalk, the beaches of Plum Island and the history of the town of Newburyport, we knew this was a place we would stay!
In 1989 as we continued to expand, we added our Portsmouth, NH location in the heart of Market Square. This store is known for its elaborate gemstone windows, its friendly and local staff, and its expanse of loyal clientele! The store’s “Bookcase of Jewelry” makes the tight quarters of the store manageable and memorable.
Our next city to call home in 2010 was Dover, NH, just twenty minutes west of Portsmouth. This store is our hub of jewelry manufacturing and repair. The store itself is stunning and not only from the gems beneath the glass; it is like walking into a jewelry store over 100 years old. Its masculine mahogany cabinetry and drawers and more drawers makes this location a treat to come and see!
Now a two-generation company, we are thankful for our loyal clientele who make coming to work to share and educate about beauty truly a pleasure.

I had a great interaction with this shop from the beginning. I saw the listing on the ring, and I immediately knew I wanted it, but I needed to know whether it could be resized. She very quickly responded and offered to resize the ring for $15, a much more reasonable price than my local shops offer. She set up a reserved listing for me, and I bought the ring on the same day. The shop resized the ring for me within two weeks and then sent my ring via express mail. The ring is sized precisely, and it looks absolutely stunning. This item was priced much lower than other items in this shop, and I think my experience really indicates that Market Square Jewelers values all their customers equally, no matter what item they're buying. Don't hesitate to write a message or send an email, because this is a great shop!

My beautiful ring arrived today. I am so pleased with it! It is more beautiful than I imagined. For potential customers who might be worried about buying jewelry online. Don't be if its from from Market Square Jewelers. I have purchased many pieces from the brick and mortar shops in the past and I have always been pleased with the service and quality of the jewelry. So, I was completely comfortable buying my next treasure online. All of my questions were quickly answered and everyone was polite and knowledgeable when I had questions about this particular ring. It was shipped in a secure manner and arrived within a few days. Being able to browse online I am able to share images with my daughter of potential wedding bands as she wants a unique vintage band. Thank you again for offering such beautiful treasures.

Market Square Jewelers offers a layaway program for our customers. Customers must put a 20% down payment in order to secure the purchase. The customer must pay off the remainder over three months in a monthly payment program. For instance, if an item is $1,000.00 the customer must put a down payment of $200.00 and pay an additional $266.66 per month for three months.
All layaways, even online layaways, are non-refundable. If the customer decides they do not want the item the down payment(s) become store credit.
Market Square Jewelers ships your online purchase through USPS Express Mail. Packages will be shipped within 2-4 business days after payment is received (unless we are sizing a ring) and package should arrive one to two business days after shipment (barring unforeseen circumstances). All packages are insured for their purchase price. We require a signature ensuring delivery confirmation. We receive a proof of delivery notification to let us know when you received the package! Upon shipment, customers will receive an email with tracking information for their purchase.
All items are shipped (domestic) for $20.00.
Purchases can be shipped to almost any country.
Unfortunately, at this time, we are NOT able to ship to France.
The carrier we use changes, but it will usually be FedEx or UPS. We ship ALL packages insured and declared for their full value. Packages will be shipped within 2-4 business days after payment is received (unless we are sizing a ring), and packages should arrive to Customs in 3-6 business days.
The customer is responsible for all duties, taxes, and fees associated with Customs. All international orders are sent with original invoice, so full value for items must be claimed and we can not claim a lesser value on your items to avoid duties and taxes.
We would like to get your package to you as soon as possible, but please be aware that all Custom's clearance events are different, and we CAN NOT guarantee that your package will reach you by a certain date.
Customs may delay clearance of your item. Customs may also require you to pick your item up and it can not be delivered to your door. It differs on a case to case basis, so we can not guarantee what will happen at Customs, at that point it is out of our control. We will do everything we can on our end (i.e. making sure item descriptions are clear for declarations) to facilitate the process, but we are not responsible for what Customs chooses to do.
If you are an International customer, we would recommend looking up your countries' specific policies regarding Customs.
All International items are shipped for $80.00 (but could increase in some cases). This $80.00 covers the shipping fees to your country and also the insurance for your item, but does NOT guarantee your package will be delivered to your door (in some cases, Customs requires that you pick an item up).
For International Shipments, we also require the customer's phone number, so that if Customs needs to contact you directly regarding your package, they can.

REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES FOR INTERNET PURCHASES
All jewelry bought through the website can be returned within 10 days for a full refund.
The 10 day return window begins the day you sign for your package.
If there are any issues with a purchase please contact us immediately so we can answer any questions in regards to the piece or so we can expect the return. When returning an item, we ask that you insure the package through USPS/Fedex for its purchased value and to package the jewelry carefully so the item is not damaged in transition. Upon arrival, we will inspect the piece to ensure that it is in its original condition.
Please include the original printed receipt order when sending back something for a return.
Items will not be accepted for return if they have been severely damaged or altered in any way.
We will refund your purchase, less any shipping and sizing costs, as soon as the item has been received and approved.
After the 10 day return window, we also do offer an exchange for store credit within 30 days of the purchase date.
Any Custom Orders are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

All rings over $1000.00 purchased on this website are sized at no charge to the customer. If a ring needs to go down or up more than one size, please contact us before purchasing it to make sure that this is possible.
Please allow us up to a week to have the ring sized and shipped to you!
If the ring is less than $1000.00 please contact us for a sizing quote!
We do not recommend online sizing tutorials. Please see your local jewelry professional to properly size your finger. In addition, your finger should be sized on a regular basis. Like many things, our fingers fluctuate with our weight, the time of year, and what we ate the night before. We include one sizing upon purchase. Otherwise, it is your responsibility to properly size the ring at your local jeweler.
Though we are happy to size rings to your specifications, sometimes it is quicker and more accurate to have your local jeweler size your ring. There are many variables such as the thickness of the band, the size of the a cavity under a gemstone, and the attributes of your finger that makes sizing an art. If you would like your ring sized at your local jeweler, please indicate that the ring does not need to be sized upon purchase. Thanks!
