Huge Ca. 1884 Antique Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Casket - Jewelry Box/Chest

MAGNIFICENT ART NOUVEAU GERMAN STERLING SILVER CHEST - Casket - Jewelry Box. - White Velvet Lining. Cartouche monogrammed with an 'A' over a 'M' with a Crown above. One has got to wonder about the significance of the Crown. Casket is perfection, it even has a Sterling Silver Key.

Some minor loss of velvet flocking - you have to touch it to realize it. I have provided a close up picture but you will not see it unless you are really looking for it. Casket has endured 120-years of loving use - no dents, splits or repairs. The lock works perfectly but does not hold it tight.

Casket is 7" high x 10-1/2" Long x 6-3/4" Wide and weighs 34.86 troy ounces (just under 2-1/2 lbs).

Makers Mark: The Reichsmark (Crescent Moon & Crown) replaced the German City Marks in 1884. Makers Mark follows.

I purchased this Casket from P. Giacomo TOZZI on Ponte Vecchio Bridge in Florence Italy, on a crisp beautiful day in February of 2006, and carefully hand-carried it home.

Excellent Antique Condition.
