About UsWelcome to JeweLyrie!
All the jewelry you will find here comes from my heart and soul, each piece has it's unique energy, and speaks for itself. As a jewelry artist, I express myself through metal and gemstones of what I see and feel in my head and my heart, each piece is crafted carefully and meticulously. I hope that by visiting my store, my love for making jewelry can touch your heart, as it has touched mine.
I was born an artist but went through a long way to find out I have a soul for creating jewelry. I have always had my unique taste and could hardly get satisfied.
As a teenager, I taught myself how to sew, and make patterns, leading to my altering of all my shirts and dresses and eventually buying fabric and sewing up complete outfits. I studied fashion design at Parson's School Of Design, and graduated with a BFA. My hard work proved to be worth it when my graduation design of a pair of black and white bias cut evening dresses, both classic and modern, proudly won me the Golden Thimble Adri Award. After graduating and interning with several design companies, with my newly wed husband's support, I opened my boutique in soho where I designed and custom made evening dresses and wedding gowns. Shortly after that, we had our first daughter. That was a very happy period of time, and two years later, after our second daughter arrived, I realized that it was much more important for me to be a mother of two. So, I closed my boutique, and departed from the fashion industry.
That was about ten years ago. All these years I never stopped finding outlets of my creativity. Worked as an artistic director I designed seasonal collections of framed art, 3-d multimedia arts that have been manufactured and distributed nationwide through Michael's and Bed Bath and Beyond. I have 2 wonderful daughters, 15 and 11 now, and a 2 year old boy. Both girls compete in dance. Beside driving back and forth from home to dance studio, I have made my girls' dance wear, costumes, special occasion dresses, knit sweaters, and designed a special line of seamless knit dance wear which had become hot sale items around dance school. My 15-year-old has grown up to be a wonderful young lady, beautiful, talented, intelligent, and independent, and not to mention, has impeccable fashion sense. My second daughter, had been on the national tour with Billy Elliot The Musical since she was 9, performing professionally on stage. My baby boy, growing up with the Billy Elliot cast family since 3 months old, had visited over 20 big cities in the US, over a dozen children's museums, zoos, aquariums, is so sweet, handsome, and smart, completely enjoying being spoiled by not only mom and dad, grandparents, but also two big sisters!
Somewhere five years ago, I developed a fond interest in jewelry, fell in love with natural stones and precious metal, and felt a revival to my long depressed creative energy! Like a sponge again, I learned and practiced on everything I could get my hands on. The more I learned, the more opportunities opened, and the more alive I felt. Thanks to the internet for providing me a market place to sell what I've created, I have gained a great sense of achievement! Over the years, I've been selling my jewelries worldwide through internet.
For the past two years, I've traveled with my younger daughter Olivia together with the B.E. Musical Tour. I knew all along to make my visions come true I needed to broaden my knowledge of fine tuning my techniques, and sharpening my skills. Being on the road gave me the perfect opportunity to learn new metalsmith techniques. Stone setting, engraving, chasing, repousse, granulating, enameling, lapidary, not to mention, soldering, metal forming, texturing, patinating, etching, reticulation, and etching. I was so intrigued... All these brought my mental standard to a whole new level. I realize that to be a true jewelry artist, I needs to always strive for accuracy and exquisite craftsmanship.
As a jewelry artist, my inspiration comes from anything, but deep down the root influence is Chinese calligraphy. The style I studied extensively was extremely elegant and delicate, which can be easily found in my work as clean and elongated lines, and a gracefully composited design layout. By practicing calligraphy, I got an in-depth feeling and understanding of rhythm, reflected in my work as rhythmic combination of gem stone and precious metal, and layering of variety of metal textures. Music indirectly influences my design, clears my mind, soothes my soul, and lets my instincts be my guide. Nature is my endless source of inspiration, Mother Nature is the ultimate creator, I learn so much from her. The near-two-year intensive travel brought me so close to nature, I drove north to south from Minneapolis to Fort Lauderdale, coast to coast from NY to CA, ocean to desert, mountain to prairie, winter to summer, everywhere I went, I was so impressed with what nature has to offer to an artist, nearly 100,000 miles, over 10,000 photographs, every picture frame of breath taking landscapes is beautiful individual, just like every rock, smooth or rough, every pebble, round or angular, every gem stone, cheap or costly, has it's own characteristic beauty. I am over flowing with ideas of what I'm going to create, with rocks, with metals, with colors, with textures, with my hands, with my heart and soul!
