Artist Statement: Doug Ritter Doug Ritter was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has been a commercial and portrait photographer for nearly 30 years. His love for creating beautiful images has taken him from the commercial world into the world of landscape photography. Both Ansel Adams and David Muench have been a major influence and inspiration to Doug. Doug is the recipient of numerous awards for his photography including Manitoba Photographer of the Year, Top Commercial Photograph Awards and four Kodak Gallery Awards. He is also accredited by the Professional Photographers of Canada in the Architectural, Illustration and Commercial categories. With no control over weather, light or geography, he studies the subject and places himself in the most unique position to arrange all the variables in what will become an interesting composition. “Then there is the moment when all the elements of a great image fall into place…the varying qualities of light during a sunrise, or the details within a simple composition. It is these moments that I try to capture and share with my photography.
