About Us
I am a live-long collector and in my retirement have decided to turn my hobby into a business. My rather eclectic tastes do not limit me to certain categories or types of items; if it makes me smile, I buy it. I hope you appreciate my tastes and that you take some time to browse through my shop.
I find my items in a variety of places; auctions, estate and tag sales, flea markets and even yard sales and thrift shops on a lucky day. I fully understand that buying antique and vintage items online can sometimes be scary so I like to provide lots of photos and describe my items thoroughly, pointing out any flaws or condition issues they may have. While the origin of most of my items is unknown and beyond my control, I do my best to clean, and maybe even do some refurbishing on items that allow this. Any notable modifications will be found in my descriptions. Sometimes I may miss a spot or overlook something and I guarantee that if you are the least bit unhappy with your purchase or its condition I will gladly accept all returns and give a full refund. I am happy to say that this has not occurred and I will continue to do my best to insure that it doesn't.
A few of my items are on consignment and have a fixed price but I am willing to consider reasonable offers on most other items. I also accept layaways on any item with flexible terms and a 10% deposit. Please read my "Terms of Sale" for further information.
About My Dolls:
My sisters and I spent long happy hours playing with our Ginny dolls. Mine was a 1955 walker doll with brown braids and came dressed in the jeans and red checked shirt outfit. I loved her to distraction and my love of these beautiful dolls continues.
I find them in a variety of places and in all conditions. Occasionally they are perfect but more often they need re-dressing and/or some type of refurbishing. After many years of collecting I know what to look for to tell whether the doll is salvageable; ie. good wig, nice face paint, functioning walker with no body splits. I never, ever paint my dolls or add any sort of artificial coloring to cheek, eyes or lips. Some dolls need cleaning, hair work and restringing but this is the extent to which I alter them from their found state. Major modifications will be noted in my descriptions.
I like to sell my dolls as I would like to receive them so I repair any tears in the clothing, add elastic to the bloomers if necessary and replace hat elastics if they are stretched or very dirty. I do not wash the clothing unless absolutely necessary and even prefer to use something that may be slightly dingy rather than launder. The clothing is delicate and some colors fade or bleed easily. I have an aversion to the original nylon socks unless they are in pristine condition so I replace them with new. If you are a purist, just let me know and you will receive the old type. I try to mention any changes or repairs in my descriptions but may occasionally forget minor things...a stitch here and there, etc.
If my dolls are found undressed I try to match them with an outfit that suits them but, unless a doll is listed as 'all original', I am fairly willing to swap outfits on dolls from the same year. I will also consider selling an outfit separately from the doll that it is displayed with. Please feel free to ask about this. If you just can't decide which doll is your favorite I would love to send pictures of two or more of them together for comparison.
I almost always have Ginny and Ginnette dolls in inventory that are not listed due to one thing or another, usually because they are not quite up to my standards. They would make nice dolls for the beginning collector or for use as mannequins or props. I also have spare accessory pieces; shoes, hats, purses and complete and incomplete outfits. If you are looking for something in particular I may be able to help.
Please ask for more information and photos.
