19th Century Copperplate Engraving - Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot

This original, hand colored, copperplate engraving - Le Vautour aura (Vulture) - is from Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot's: Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux de l'Amerique Septentrionale. It was drawn by Gabriel Pretre, etched by Louis Bouquet, colored by Langlois and published by Louis J. P. Vieillot in Paris, 1807. This very rare, unframed, large folio measures 13.5" X 20.5" with a soft platemark at 10.75" X 14.25". The print is in excellent condition with age toning limited to the sheet's edges and one damp stain on the left margin, well outside the platemark (this dampstain will mat out - see photo 2). The colors remain bright and vivid after nearly 200 years. Please email questions or if additional pictures are required. Please note that the print is in an acid free environment and shrink wrapped for protection. The shrink wrap may cause some glare in the photos.
