SALE Antique Royal Portrait, Crown Frame, Mary, Queen of Scots

$506 USD SaleSALE Antique Royal Portrait, Crown Frame, Mary, Queen of Scots

Antiques:Antique Sculpture & Art
We have a wonderful large size 'miniature painting' of Mary I (popularly known in the English-speaking world as Mary, Queen of Scots and, in France, as Marie Stuart) (8 December 1542 – 8 February 1587). She was Queen of Scots from 14 December 1542 to 24 July 1567. Crowned at the age of 6 or 9 months (accounts vary), upon the death of her father, King James V, her mother assumed the regency in her behalf. Married in 1558 at age 16 to the Dauphin of France (Francis II, ) she was widowed only ...

SALE Antique Napoleon III Bronze Censer, Amazing Figural Tableau

$506 USD SaleSALE Antique Napoleon III Bronze Censer, Amazing Figural Tableau

Antiques:Antique Sculpture & Art
One of my favorite finds from our last London trip and actually one of my last finds before returning home (boo hoo). The extensive figural decoration is the first aspect to grab your attention, the superior detail comes in a close second and then the amazing weight of the piece completes the sensory overload :). Heavy old bronze here, thick cast and all in beautiful condition. In the shape of a single inkwell, often mistakenly sold as inkwells but it's actually an incense burner with the ...
SALE Antique French Carved Wood Religious Icon or Sculpture, Crucified Christ with Thorn Crown

$506 USD SaleSALE Antique French Carved Wood Religious Icon or Sculpture, Crucified Christ with Thorn Crown & Oak Frame

Antiques:Antique Sculpture & Art
Fabulous antique Victorian to Edwardian era French hand carved religious sculpture, a beautifully detailed bust of the crucified Christ with thorn crown and original solid oak frame! The marking or signature at the bottom of the sculpture appears to read "Guegueniot H" though I've not been able to find any online reference to it. There is also pencil writing on the back that reads "Chateau in Paques, 1950" though I'm sure that the piece dates before that. Solid European oak frame, very Victorian ...
SALE Delightfully Charming! 19th Century French Ormolu Lamp, Sculpture of School Boy, (not Bro

$336 USD SaleSALE Delightfully Charming! 19th Century French Ormolu Lamp, Sculpture of School Boy, (not Bronze)

Antiques:Antique Sculpture & Art
This is a conversion from an old gas lamp, folks, and dates to later 1800s, is very French, very wonderful! A little school boy, made very much like the sculpture of three we have for sale and which is shown here with this little lamp, and the two are just made for one another, I think. They are not spelter, but are a solid white metal casting that has a bronze patina, or in the case of the lamp, a gilt ormolu patina. The lamp 'arm' is a long stem with vined leaves and a tole floral head into ...

Antiques:Antique Sculpture & Art
FINE & LARGE 19c VICTORIAN PERIOD FRUITS OF THE HUNT HOLLOW CAST WHITE METAL SCULPTURE WITH GILT BRONZE PATINA AND HINTS OF ANIMALIER INFLUENCE! We bought this with plans to turn it into a wonderful lamp base but have been too busy. It's a hollow "desk cast", the second grade of cast sculptures, of a non-brittle white metal. We're not sure of the alloy used but it isn't spelter or bronze. A truly captivating piece with no damage and endless possibilities! I'd mount this figure on a shaped wooden ...

SOLD 1800s Bronze Oil Lamp, Harpy or Dolphin Figural, RARE!

SOLDSOLD 1800s Bronze Oil Lamp, Harpy or Dolphin Figural, RARE!

Antiques:Antique Sculpture & Art
At first I thought this was an open pitcher or small creamer, odd as it is, but I have been informed it is actually a very old oil lamp, which would have had a hemp wick out the mouth to soak oil stored in the body cavity, and the hemp or batting wick would then be lighted. Very interesting as a work of art, really, whatever it originally was made as. Bronze finish to a softer metal, though not maleable. It is not spelter or anything brittle like that. Another alloy, very fine. Measurements in ...
