Question Title How do I purchase an item from Ruby Lane?
To purchase or make an offer on an item, you will first need to be registered with Ruby Lane. If you are currently registered, please Sign In. If you are not yet registered, you will be directed to our registration page to enter your name, address, email and (optional) phone number. We only give a shop your information once you submit a purchase or an offer. Once registered, you do not have to keep filling in this information for future orders.

Step By Step Instructions From the Item's Page

If you are purchasing a single item or if a multiple quantity of the item is available:
  • Click the Add to Cart button.
  • If there are multiple quantities of the item:
    • You will see a Quantity box located above the item photo with a downward pointing arrow.
    • Click the arrow and select the quantity you wish to purchase.
    • The quantity will automatically update and you will receive a message stating that the update was successful.
  • You can continue shopping or you can proceed to check out.
  • When you are ready to make your purchase, click the Check Out button for the items you wish to purchase.
  • When purchasing items from more than one shop, use the Check Out button in your shopping cart for each shop. The individual shop will then receive its own purchase order for your transaction. Items from different shops cannot be combined into a single purchase order.
  • If you wish to remove an item from your shopping cart, use the Trash Can icon located below the item photo.
  • Items placed in your Shopping Cart remain for 90 days, unless purchased, removed or added to your Wish List.
  • Ensure that your Buyer Information is correct. If you need to update your information, make your changes and click Save to update.
  • Add a different shipping address if required (please note that the shop may not be willing to ship to a different address).
  • Add any additional information.
  • Select your chosen payment method.*
  • Click the Place Order button.
  • To track, view and pay for your purchases, go to your My Account page.

If the item displays Offers after the price and you wish to make an offer:
  • Click the Make Offer button.
  • Enter the price you wish to offer in the box.
  • Ensure that your Buyer Information is correct. If you need to update your information, make your changes and click Save to update.
  • Add a different shipping address if required (please note that the shop may not be willing to ship to a different address).
  • Add any additional information.
  • Select your chosen payment method.*
  • Click the Make an Offer button.
  • You have two opportunities to make an offer:
    • Your first offer may be accepted, countered, or sent to the seller for their consideration.
    • If countered, you can choose to make one more offer.
    • Your second offer may be accepted, turned down, or sent to the seller for their consideration.
    • If your offer is accepted, you have committed to purchase the item at your offer price. IMPORTANT NOTE: Very low offers will return a counteroffer near the original price. Make realistic offers for the best deal.
    • To track, view and pay for your offer, go to your My Account page.

* Selecting PayPal or Amazon as a payment method does not mean that you have paid for your order. Payment by PayPal or Amazon is a separate process, which can be completed from the link found on your purchase order. After checkout is complete, an email is sent to you and the independent shop owner.

Traditional credit card payment options are available only for shops that have the ability to process credit cards directly. Selecting a credit card method under Traditional Methods will require a phone number to be entered. The shop owner will then contact you to arrange for payment and shipment of the item.

Ruby Lane is not involved in the transaction. You can also contact a shop owner directly by phone, email, or regular mail if they have chosen to display that information. Make sure you read and understand each shop's Terms of Sale before you commit to purchasing an item.
