This is certainly a 19th century Venetian etched mirror with ormolu candle holders and possibly older. My research has not turned up much. The material is a plaster gesso material and the mirror has an etched nude Roman male with snake possibly a god. There are various chips and cracks to the the plaster and someone tried to fill in a chip on front as you can see. The mirror has quite a bit of wear and deterioration but can you imagine the people who looked into this mirror over 100 years ago? The candle holders appear to be bronze or brass and are removable and can come off for easier shipping. The mirror is about 23" tall and about 13" at its widest. It is a beauty and quite a rare piece. You just don't see antique Venetian mirrors like this.
