This is a 1920 bronze bust attached to a marble base by listed artist Dayton Reginald Eugene Brown (1895-1971). This is a bust of his son and was came from the artist's home. The piece is 16" tall and is signed and dated. It has a gorgeous dark chocolate brown patina. The marble base has a chip on one back corner as seen. Beautiful one of a kind sculpture.
Mr. Brown was from Chicago and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago before moving to California where he befriended Hollywood stars like John Barrymore and Greta Garbo among others, who posed for him for etchings. He had a gallery in San Diego for several years before retiring. He passed away in San Diego in 1971.
