1961 Fairbanks Sculpture - Chevrolet Parts Manager Award

Standing 12" tall, this heavy sculpture was commissioned by Chevrolet to be presented to top Parts Managers across the nation. It was sculpted, signed and dated by Dr. Avard Fairbanks, who is known for creating the Chrysler "Flying lady" radiator hood ornament and the Dodge Ram logo/hood ornament. His sculptures of Washington and Lincoln are also throughout the USA as well as many other sculptures throughout the White House, state government buildings and Universities. This sculpture is titled "The Competitor" and is missing the brass plate on the front and bottom. The front plate would have had the title, year and "P&A Award for Outstanding Achievement" followed by the dealer's name. The bottom plate had "Sculpted by Avard Fairbanks in 1961 especially for Chevrolet Parts and Accessory Department for presentation to outstanding Parts Managers across the nation." The latin phrase at his feet mean "Fortune favors the bold". This sculpture is very ornate and will look good with or without a custom made plate on the front.
