From The Glitter & The Gold- Fashioning Americas Jewelry- The Newark Museum- "The firm of JA and SW Granberry was founded in 1895 as Cutler & Granbery in Attleboro, Mass. In 1900 John A Granbery and his brother, SW, bought out the Cutler interest, continuing the operation of the house on Jay Street until April of that year, when they moved the entire plant and business to 26 Beecher Street in Newark. In Feb. 1902 the brothers formed a limited partnership. Five years later, in 1907, the factory relocated to 3-33 East Kinney Street. The firm maintained offices at 13 Maiden Lane in New York City and at 342 South Broadway on Los Angeles, remaining in business until 1931. Granberry specialized in 10 carat gold jewelry including brooches, scarf pins, bracelets, hatpins, fobs, bib pins, belt pins, veil pins, tie clasps, pendants, neck chains, bead necklaces, and lockets."

Please do note that all natural shell cameos when held to strong light will show fine growth lines to some extent, which is unique to each individual piece. We carefully examine all of our cameos to make sure that any hairlines do not penetrate the front and back surfaces of the shell, and do not compromise the integrity of the cameo.

Cameos make an incredible traditional bridal gift from mother to daughter, usually given with the intent of wearing at the wedding ceremony, and to eventually pass down to their own daughter. They also make a very popular choice for "Something Borrowed". We recommend storing fine cameo jewelry individually in a crush proof box, away from any other pieces that may damage them. Do not exposed to extreme cold temperatures, and occasionally you should moisturize the shell with olive or mineral oil. Please clean the mounting only with a very mild liquid soap such as Dove Liquid, a soft toothbrush, and a very gentle scrubbing action. Rinse well with plain tepid (luke warm) water, pat dry gently with a soft towel, and re-moisturize the shell cameo with oil after it is thoroughly dry.
