Antique transitional Victorian to Edwardian 14k gold lever back earrings with rose cut diamonds. Two tone 14k yellow gold with silver accents and apx. .70 carat diamonds total weight. Unmarked, tested 14k gold content. A patent for the lever back earring findings were filed in 1901. Use of this lever back finding indicates that the earrings can be no earlier than 1901. The diamond weight breaks down thus:
.30 (4mm width x 4mm length) x 2 = .60 carat Rose cut PEAR shape diamonds .02 (1.7mm diameter) x 2 = .04 carat rose cut round .01 (1mm diameter) x 2 = .02 carat rose cut round .005 (1/2mm diameter) x 2 = .01 carat rose cut round
The earrings measure 1-1/8" total length x 5/16" in width and weigh 2.5 grams. With fine milgrained beaded accents. Typical of antique rose cut diamonds the cuts are irregular and the clarity shows eye visible inclusion, these face up quite beautifully. They have closed back settings which you can see in the third image. In excellent condition, the lever backs function well and are secure. Circa 1901-1910
