19th Century French Wood String Holder

What an awesome find! A rare 19th C string holder with the original red wash. tI has a beautiful patina and contains a very old spool of string. Small hole in the lid for the string to thread through and lovely hardware on top.

The dimensions of this little treasure are 7 1/4"H and 5" lid diameter and 3 3/4" base diameter.

Please note a few small cracks and holes in the wood due to age which only add to the character and doesn't affect value. Still very solid and the lid fits nicely.

What an unusual antique piece to add to your collection. Would look great displayed in a sewing or craft studio.
