Salt and pepper shaker set, antique American glass. Made by Gillinder & Sons, Philadelphia PA. The pattern is "Six Ribbed Melon", opaque white opalware, circa 1888-1891. This salt and pepper set is 2 1/2" high, are mold blown, with hand painted floral sprigs ( a flower and 2 buds on the front and a single bud on the back). Original paint is in excellent condition. Usually these are in solid colors and very rarely are painted. Tops are old, however, they do not match. Acceptable for their age. Better than no top at all or a new one. The pepper top has oxidation and the salt has plating worn off. The rims retains some of the original roughness even though and attempt was made to have them ground smooth. No chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs. See photos. Guaranteed old.
