Hubodometer, device attached to truck, trailer, bus, tractor or farm equipment to record miles. Excellent condition and appears to be in working order. It's importance was for maintenance purposes or logging miles. One of the first hubodometers was designed by Engler in 1952 patent. A hubometer (hub, center of a wheel + -ometer, measure of), or hubodometer or simply hubo, is a device mounted on the axle of a vehicle that measures distance traveled. The whole device rotates with the wheel except for an eccentrically mounted weight on an internal shaft. This remains pointing downwards and drives the counting mechanism as the body of the hubometer rotates round. This hubodomenter was made by Engler Instrument Co. of Jersey City, NJ. Perfect for car or farm collector. See photos. Nice piece of Automotive Advertising.
