Syrup Jar or Jug Antique American Glass

Syrup jar or jug, antique American Glass, made by Adams Co., of Pittsburgh, PA., circa 1870's. Referred to as either jug, jar or pitcher, it is molded glass, with etched background and engraved pattern, has a pedestal base that flares upward to the body of the syrup. Syrup container is 9" tall to the top of the lid finial. Lid is hinged and marked Pat JUL 16 72 APL 4 76, spout is marked A A Adams Pat AUG 12 79. Adams & Co of Pittsburgh became a member of the US Glass Co. and was later referred to as Factory A. This syrup is manufactured well before this consolidation. The neck of the syrup has ring and tapers to flared body with glass pattern surrounding it. The bottom has starburst design. No damage to glass, it is also clean and clear. The metal handle is missing the thumbprint. The metal lid has a few very small dents and there are two spots where the finish is flaking. See photos.
