Biscuit Jar or Barrel Victorian American Glass
Biscuit jar or barrel, American Victorian glass, circa 1900 - 1908, hand painted floral decoration. Biscuit jars are sometimes referred to as biscuit barrel (English term) or incorrectly a cookie jar (American slang). The lid, mount and swing handle are silver plate. Height is 6 1/2", barrel shaped 4 1/2" diameter. The body is frosted glass, hand decorated on the front with a purple iris highlighted with gold leaf. Iris are only on the front. Lid has silver plate knob finial which is fastened with screw. Condition is near MINT, no chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs. NO damage. See photos.
