Antique Classical Dolphin Sculpture Silvered Bronze
One of my favorite things – dolphins! This is a lovely 19th century sculpture. It is bronze and silvered bronze. The classical dolphin sculpture is mounted onto the base and all around the top outer edge there are entwined classical dolphins with some wearing crowns. They are interspaced with florals all in high relief. All of that work is silver on bronze. The section where the main dolphin is attached is yellow bronze. It sits on four bun feet. Overall this piece has a wonderful patina. I suspect it is just a sculpture or desk top item or perhaps a paperweight. It is just beautiful and the work is exceptionally fine. There are no makers marks on this what so ever which I find so hard to believe due to the exceptional detail and superb quality. It is in very good condition. Overall it measures 7 ¾” at widest x 4 ¾” at deepest x 4” at highest.
