Oil Chandelier Cast Iron 12 Font Kerosene
This is one of the most amazing 19th century oil burning chandeliers that I have seen in quite a while. It is made of cast iron the casting is very ornate! It has a very interesting and original surface patina which is virtually untouched. In each highly decorated font holder or font arm there is a clear glass font with its original burnings and chimney. Each chimney has a nice crimped top edge. The chandelier is amazing in the fact that even though it is large being 12 branches (or 12 fonts) chandelier the movement in it is very unique you can see over it, under it, and through what I mean to say is that it is not obtrusive in anyway. The form is basically very naturalistic. I am knocked out by the condition of it it is super and it just gives you chills. A lighting device like this chandelier that is so old, so rich and so wonderful is such a great piece of American history! It measures approx 52 at highest with a 39 overall diameter. Due to its size it was very difficult to capture its true beauty in a photograph if you slightly like the pictures you will be knocked out when you see it in person!
