Antique Reference Practical Book On Chinaware

Antique reference book entitled The Practical Book of Chinaware. Written by Harold Donaldson Eberlein and Roger Wearne Ramsdell. Copyright, 1925, by J.B. Lippincott Company. Published by Blue Ribbon Books, Inc., 386 Fourth Avenue, New York City. The contents include different styles of chinaware; Oriental chinaware and the West, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese, German, Austrian, Swiss, Dutch and Belgian, Swedish and Danish, Russian and Polish, English, and American Chinaware. This book also has a full bibliography and Index. There are 116 illustrations, including 12 in full color, plus 7 diagrams depicting shapes and structures of chinaware. Some of the pictures consist of the Worcester Platter, courtesy of the British Museum, eight-sided K’ang Hsi bowl, Chantilly gravy boat, “Kakiyemon” manner, bristol tray, and an eighteenth century Chinese powder-blue vase, to name only a few. There are 325 pages plus contents. The measurements of this book are 9 ½” x 6 ¼” x 1 ¾”. The book is in very good condition. The cover is blue cloth over board with gold embossing on the front cover and spine. The spine is – most likely due to having the book on a shelf with only the spine visible (sunlight). The pages are all in very good condition with the expected browning around the edges. Great reference guide – fabulously informative! Quite a useful book…
