Antique Miniature Chair Table ,Great Country Primitive,Salesman Sample
A stunning little primitive gem! A real early salesman sample chair table .Made of birch & has a nice dry but rich surface patina with wooden peg construction. With the table top down it is for all intents & purpose a table , in fact I have been using it for a side table next to a chair in the sunroom for the last 30 years ! Of course you know that in the early days most household items were duel purpose , because of living in small quarters & for heating purpose, like after a meal the table would be cleared ,then it would be pulled closer to the hearth to sit on while the chair table back would keep the heat from the fireplace all around you .Hey after living here in Maine for so long I have a great understanding & appreciation of why this was such a great invention !! Measuring only 17” high x 17 ½” x 15” Sq Top. This is such a great antique collectible & can be used in so many collection decorating situations, I should think even doll collectors would be wild for this! Dating from the 19th century ,
