Hunting Dogs Sculpture ,in Silver Plate & Gold Details Circa 1890's
Spectacular 19th century sculpture of hunting dogs. I think this is a really unusual sculpture it is silver plated with gold plated details, such as the dog’s collars, leaf tips & leaves laying on the ground in strategic places .The detail is exceptionally fine, it has good weight as well. I imagine that for sure when it was made it was sitting on a wood or marble base .Right now the sculpture has a fairly dark surface patina -the pictures show it a bit darker than it actually is & I am sure that it would polish up nicely if one prefers it that way: it’s all a matter of preference. I have been the caretaker of this piece in my personal collection for over thirty five years, so it really does feel like I’m giving away the puppies or kitties from the litter! But I’m sure you will treasure this sculpture just as I have. This sculpture dates from the 1890’s
