Majolica Centerpiece Seahorse Dolphins

Outstanding & so impressive Majolica Fruit Compote. The delightful subject is a mythological sea serpent ,in a fanciful naturalistic form holding up the top bow of the compote. The base with more elaborate nautical theme elements of sea shells & & full classical dolphin heads. The colors are amazing ,so rich & true to the theme of the sea. The detail & definition is exceptional. Impressed mark on the bottom of “Eichwald”The firm of B.Bloch & Co was established in 1871 in the German state of Bohemia & in 1921 changed the company name to Eichwald.More information on this company is in the book European Majolica by D.Michael Murray ,a Schiffer book .The condition of this centerpiece is really excellent , having only a few very minor hairlines around the center nut & bolt on top & bottom. These really are minor & a good thing in my opinion since when we see signs of age such as this it tends to reaffirm all the reasons for our treasure hunting! The compote measures 17 ½” High x 17” Long x 12 3/8” Wide
