Nancy Ann Storybook Doll
This Nancy Ann doll is from the 1940s and is bisque. Her arms move and her legs are frozen. She is 5 1/2 inches tall and is marked Nancy Ann Storybook doll on her back. Someone pinned a scrap of paper to her petticoat that said Polly so this might be Polly Put The Kettle On. I did not find this particular dress while searching Nancy Ann outfits. Dolly has some mussing of her hairdo but nothing extreme. She is a sweet little gal that needs a new home. Nancy Ann Abbott started her doll making in 1936. The bisque dolls were made from 1936 until 1948. At one time, Nancy Ann was the largest doll producer in the US. Nancy Abbott passed away in 1964. The company filed for bankruptcy in 1965.
