Marked Weiss pin in the dark amber color sometimes referred to as the root beer color. There are 24 prong set stones that are a darker amber color at the top and then extend down the pin to lighter colored stones. The stems at the top are clear rhinestones in a ribbon effect. A very striking and elegant brooch. The Weiss mark is on the back in block letters. Late 40s to 50s. Pin is approximately 2 3/8 inches long. Albert Weiss started his company in 1942 in New York. Weiss created jewelry with his name on it but also sold unmarked to other companies and they would put their own paper label on the piece and sell it. Weiss jewelry was of a high quality. He used excellent quality Austrian crystals for his creation and it is said, his jewelry was comparable to Eisenberg. Weiss certainly created some of the most beautiful jewelry of the post WW11 era. Weiss retired in 1967 and the business closed their door in 1971.
