Russian Lacquerware Box USSR Palekh 7" x 5 5/8."

This is a lacquerware box with a scene from Russian folklore (although I don't know which one). The back of the box is marked USSR for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. That means the box was made before 1991 when the USSR broke up. It is 7" x 5 5/8" x 1 5/8." The lid is hand painted with a scene of a man and a red horse with horns in a forest. There are castles in the background. The box interior is lacquered red, and it contains a paper with a description of the art of Russian Lacquerware and brief plot synopsis of the most popular Russian Folk Tales that appear on these boxes. There are a few dings in the lid, so the box is not in perfect condition.
