Antique Pin Stuck Christening Pin Cushion

This is a circa 1830 pin cushion with Welcome Little Stranger spelled out in old pins. Pin cushions like these were considered a social necessity in 18th and 19th century layettes. It measures 5" by 3 1/2" and is 2" thick. It is covered in deep blue velvet and feels like it is stuffed with sawdust. There is wear to the nap of the velvet but no holes or leakage.
