Original Royalty - King George VI Coronation 1937 Mug - "Long May They Reign"

On offer is this delightful mug. it is in really good condition overall, there are no chips or cracks over the body. The glaze has a lovely off white tone with no signs of crazing to it. There are some brown specs in the glaze which I believe got there during the firing process but these don't detract anything from the overall look. There are also three marks in the bottom of the mug.

It has a typical mug shape and decorated on one side with a lovely transfer printed scene depicting a portrait of George VI and Queen Elizabeth surrounded by a wreath border and two flags. Around the top of this the words "Coronation May 12 1937" are written on and to the bottom of it "King George VI. Queen Elizabeth".

On the other side is a crown shape and "GR Long May They Reign". The colours are still bright and look great still.

Around the top and on the handle is a gold coloured line border which is worn in places but still adds a decorative touch.

On the base is a stamp "Made in England" - I am not familiar with the mark but most probably would've been produced by one of the Staffordshire potteries.

This mug measures 9.5cm in height (3.7 inches) and has a top diameter of 7cm (2.7 inches).
