Pipers Opera House/Wild Bill Cody Casein-1950s-Jan Gary

This is a 31 by 23 inch casein painting of an Opera House(Pipers).The door of the opera house advertises that Wild Bill Cody is coming.The painting was done in the 1950s or early 1960s by the listed New Jersey artist Jan Gary.It is signed only on the "Pipers Opera House" side.There is another painting on the back of bridges and ruins of some kind. The condition is excellent.There is one small crease on the upper right-hand corner which will be mostly or completely covered when matted and framed. The photos tell the story.

Jan Gary was born in Fort Worth, Texas and now resides in Bayonne, New Jersey where she lived with her husband artist William Gorman until he died in 2002. She is a member of Audubon Artists, National Society of Women Artists, National Society of Painters in Casein, Painters and Sculptors Society of New Jersey, Association Artists of New Jersey, New Jersey Watercolor Society and Professional Artists of South Jersey . She has exhibited her work throughout the United States, Canada, England, and Scotland. Her awards include Childe Hassam Fund Purchase Prize, American Academy of Arts and Letters; Purchase Prize Butler Institute of Amerian Art; Agnes Noyes Prize from New Jersey Water Color Society; Janet Berne Memorial Prize from National Association of Women Artists; Grumbacher Purchase Award and named Jersey Journal Woman of Achievement.
