Vintage Hand Painted Thomas Ivory Bavaria Silberdistel Thistle Vases ca 1940s

This attractive pair of vases has finely hand painted silberdistels, or silver thistles, on the front and back. One side displays the petals fully opened and the other side displays closed petals. There is gilt along the top rim and along the foot rim. The artist's initials, G.M.F., are on the bottom of the vases, though it is smeared on one vase. The Thomas Bavaria Germany US Zone mark dates these vases to 1946-1949. These vases are in great vintage condition with only minor surface wear/scratches. The vases are 7 3/4" high, 6" wide, and the openings are 4 1/2" diameter.
