Nice handmade studio pottery vase by prominent Norwegian potter Erik Ploen (1925-2004). Ploen did all the work himself: throwing, carving & glazing. This bottle shape has been used with several glaze and surface treatments. This vase features a hand incised diamond pattern under a variegated beige and brown glaze that verges on the crystalline. 5" tall, 4.5" diameter. There's one small chip on the bottom edge that is not visible when the vase is upright o/w mint. Dates to circa 1960. Ploen's work was exhibited at the Milan Trienniale, at the Paris exhibition "Formes Scandinaves" in 1958.and in the permanent collections of several museums.
