Gordon C. Abbott Signed Original Photo Harmonica Boy 1930s-40s

Vintage original photo by Gordon C. Abbott (1882-1951) A.P.S.A. in the original Newcomb-Macklin frame and signed in pencil on the mat as was his custom. The photo is mounted to the mat. Abbott spent much of his professional life working in Mexico and Guatemala. His work captured the spirit of the places and scenes of daily life he witnessed, often in an artistic and contemplative style, creating images with a grace and timelessness that elevate their subjects beyond their mundane origins. His work is in the permanent collections of Scripps College, the Brooklyn Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, & the University of Arizona Center for Creative Photography. In 1921 he began exhibiting at the Chicago Camera Club and later became the President of that organization. He was named and Associate of the Photographic Society of America in 1944. This print measures 9.25" by 7.75" and is now hinged to its 11" by 14" original mat. Both mat and back of photo with glue stains. Photographer's stamp on back of mat as shown. Charming photo shows a smiling young boy apparently playing a harmonica with architectural elements behind him. Condition is near mint as found original condition. I'm also offering another Gordon C.
