Outstanding vintage Royal Copenhagen porcelain figural group entitled: "Wave and Rock" Standing 18.5" high, it's one of the largest figure Copenhagen ever produced. Sculpted by Theodor Landberg (1852 - 1926) and signed in the casting with his monogram and dated 1897, it was probably first issued in 1911 by Royal Copenhagen. This example bears the date mark for 1969 - 1974. Absolute mint condition. Expertly painted with a well defined modelling, this allegorical group portrays a man seated on a rock with his wrists bound behind him, in the embrace of a lovely woman while waves lash at the rock at their feet. An exceptional addition to any collection, this Art Nouveau era design is both beautiful and dramatic.
