I made this piece for a Springtime inspirational challenge through the Metal Entanglements Jewelry Market. And it was definitely a challenge making this pendant. Don't they say, "Third time is a charm." Well, I hope you think so. I had this picture in my head of what I wanted, but sometimes trying to convey that isn't so easy. My first 2 attempts just didn't meet my expectations but this design fits that picture pretty well.
I take a walk every day down to the American River. As the hillsides around me turn green, I know springtime is near when these cute little purple and lavender flowers pop up all around me.
I used Purple and Lavender Amethyst and a couple of Swarovski crystals to represent those lovely flowers; and found these wonderful green Peridot nuggets that fit in perfectly.
I used a weaving technique I learned from Eni Oken. I added some sterling coils and beads to give the piece a mosaic feel.
Pendant is made with several gauges of sterling silver wire that has been oxidized to give it an old look. Necklace is made up of Amethyst and Swarovski crystals with a sterling and amethyst clasp.
Measurements: Pendant is 2 1/2 x 1 3/4. Necklace is approximately 19 inches long. Can be lengthened or shortened.
